Accountant William Blake moves to Machine, a town in the American West, in search for a job. However, he turns from a jobseeker to fugitive when falsely accused of murder in the town. Along with Nobody, a Native American he met along the way, Blake takes down enemy after enemy. Before long, he becomes an outlaw straight out of a cowboy picture.

His 2005 work Broken Flowers won the Grand Prix at the Cannes International Film Festival.
