Osumi, who lost her parents at a young age, grew up without any colorful experiences a girl should have. Now she lives alone, taking care of her uncle’s shoe shop. With an undesired marriage approaching, Osumi’s heart was filled with resignation. But one night, a young man comes to her looking for shelter. He calles Osumi “young lady”, and her heart starts beating like never before. The sharpness in Kii Kitano’s eyes strikingly portrays a vulnerable yet spirited woman. Despite approaching his 90s at this point, Akira Inoue’s film direction, which vividly captures the two-actor drama in a closed chamber, is filled with astonishing youthfulness.
