Pyotr Tchaikovsky, the renowned 19th-century composer, has long been rumored to be homosexual. Wanting to change his life and how the world views him, he marries young Antonina who has been passionately in love with him. However, he soon reaches his breaking point... Rising star Alyona Mikhailova gives a striking portrayal of a wife slipping into madness from distress. Kirill Serebrennikov [Film Director]

Serebrennikov was born in Russia in 1969. He started his career in theater, directing and producing operas and ballet productions in prominent theaters inside and outside Russia. He worked as the artistic director of the Gogol Center in Moscow from 2012. As a film director, he became known for The Student (2016) which was screened in the Un Certain Regard section of the 69th Cannes Film Festival. Other prominent works of his include Leto (2018) and Petrov’s Flu (2021) which were both screened in Japan.
