How to enjoy HISTORICA

HISTORICA is a film festival bringing world history films to Kyoto.
The themes of the 17th iteration are “The Centenary of Uzumasa” and “Anti-Cathartic”.
We will show a masterpiece which can be named as the origin of Toei Uzumasa Kyoto Studios, which will celebrate its centenary in 2026, and movies packed with real emotions that cannot be processed easily.
We have many films that mark their Japan premiere at this festival too.
Moreover, we have related programs like “HISTORICA X”, “HISTORICA Ozashiki”, and “HISTORICA at Night”, all centered around cinema.
Please enjoy our 6-day festival, soaking yourself in movies not only while you watch them but also during the time in between.
