Witness the fury of a wrongfully convicted man! A warrior’s honor has to be defended, even at the expense of his daughter. Masterless samurai Yanagida Kakunoshin is a victim of a false accusation. He lost his wife, was exiled from his homeland Hikone, and lives in a shabby tenement house in Edo with his daughter Kinu. Nevertheless, Kakunoshin is an honest man; even when he plays boardgames for fun, he always makes sure he plays fair. One day, Kakunoshin’s old acquaintance, who is a samurai from his home domain, reveals the truth of the tragic wrongful conviction case. Kakunoshin and Kinu decide to avenge themselves, and Kinu chooses to sacrifice herself for their goal. Together, father and daughter fight for their honor.

Kazuya Shiraishi [Film Director]
Kazuya Shiraishi was born in Hokkaido in 1974. After attending a film workshop by director Genji Nakamura, he became an apprentice of Koji Wakamatsu. After working as assistant director, he made his debut with The Devil’s Path (2013) which won a number of awards including the Japan Academy Awards for Best Film and Best Director. Recent directorial works of his include Twisted Justice (2016), Hibana: Spark (2016), Birds Without Names (2017), The Blood of Wolves (2018), Sea of Revival (2019), The Blood of WolvesⅡ (2021), Lesson in Murder (2022), Kamen Rider Black Sun (2022), and The Queen of Villains (2024). His latest film is 11 Rebels (2024).
