Daigo Kagemitsu offers his soon-to-be-born son to devils in exchange for power to rule the war-torn world. 20 yers later, thief Dororo meets young man Hyakkimaru in a desert town. With bewitched swords implanted in both arms, Hyakkimaru was the baby that Kagemitsu abandoned. The manga masterpiece by Osamu Tezuka was materialized as an epic entertainment film with Tony Ching Siu-Tung (Shaolin Soccer) as action choreographer and shooting on location in New Zealand. Starring Satoshi Tsumabuki and Ko Shibasaki, the film became a massive hit in the box office. With globally minded storytelling and characters, Dororo stands out amongst its competition as a history film from the 2000s.
