Screenings of LEE Joon-ik’s masterpiece“King and the Clown”
at the pre-event of the KHIFF finished !!

As the pre-event of the KHIFF, the legendary Korean period film “King and the Clown” was screened at the Kyoto Cinema on 29th (Sat.) and 30th (Sun.) October. This film established the big record of attendance (1.23 million!!) in Korean film history, and is directed by the special guest of the Kyoto HISTORICA International Film Festival Mr. LEE Joon-ik.



At the KHIFF which will be held from 19th (Sat.) to 27th (Sun.), the screenings of Mr. Lee’s works including his latest movie “BATTLEFIELD HEROES”, “BLADES OF BLOOD” and “ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE BATTLEFIELD” are scheduled, and Mr. Lee will also join to the symposium as a panelist.

story:
Two clowns living in the Joseon Dynasty get arrested for staging a play that satirizes the king. They are dragged to the palace and threatened with execution, but are given a chance to save their lives if they can make the king laugh.
